About Mia

Welcome! I'm Mia (she/her), and I'm a dietitian working in private practice. I originally pursued nutrition to bring culturally relevant nutrition education to the field, as I didn't find my own Black and Korean family's foods and practices reflected in dietetics. My pursuits have led me to work as a fellow with children with disabilities, in the community as a SNAP-Ed nutrition educator, and in schools as a nutrition consultant. Through my work in public health, I developed a lens for seeing systemic inequalities and a passion for increasing food access and mindful nutrition. I believe everybody deserves inclusive care that centers their lived experiences.

I have a special interest in disordered eating and helping clients improve their relationship to food and their body, as well as managing Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Crohn's disease, child feeding, and other health concerns. I welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds, and especially enjoy working with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, BI&POC, and those with multiracial identities. I bring warmth, gentle curiosity, and a Health at Every Size® (HAES®)  approach to my nutrition counseling to create a nonjudgemental space. I strive to create a partnership with clients and empowers them to be in the driver's seat on their journey to find peace with food. I currently see clients through LK Nutrition, a private practice based in NYC.

Outside of counseling, I help create spaces for Black dietitians and dietitians of color working in the fields of eating disorders and nutrition. I also serve as an advisor for weight inclusive toolkits and research on queer women with eating disorders. I also enjoy teaching about cultural aspects of nutrition at MSU Denver.

In my free time, I can be found roller skating, practicing dance moves both on the ground and on wheels, fostering dogs, and singing karaoke (poorly). Although based in Denver, Colorado, I have lived in many places from Baltimore to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and love exploring food anywhere I go.
